BAPVC Management

BAPVC management consists of two co-directors (Yi Cui at Stanford and Ali Javey at UC Berkeley), an executive director (John Benner), and an industry liaison (Steve Eglash). Administrative and financial staff support the executive director. Richard Swanson is nonvoting chairman of the Industry Board and the Executive Board. The DOE has observer status on both boards.

Silicon at 10 µm can even be shaped by cutting, as shown in the photo.

During the recent BAPVC Bi-Annual Meeting, Co-Director Yi Cui reported achieving 13.7% efficiencies in ultra-thin-film, crystalline silicon solar cells that incorporate the latest designs in light management. Silicon becomes flexible at less than 50 µm thickness. At 10 µm it can even be shaped by cutting, as shown in the photo.

The BAPVC Bi-Annual Meeting held at Stanford on May 6-7 hosted 120 attendees with equal numbers coming from industry, principal investigators and students. Presentations are posted for member’s access.

Our next meeting is scheduled November 18-19, 2013 at the University of California at Berkeley.
